This infographic is available in Portuguese and Spanish.

E-commerce stores, retailers and consumers aren't the only ones looking forward to Black Friday, the biggest shopping event of the year. Fraudsters are also planning to take advantage of the peak in online shopping to execute their increasingly sophisticated scams on e-commerce businesses.

In parallel with the rise in online purchases, the losses incurred by e-commerce companies due to fraud are also growing.

To give you some context, the revenue generated by online sales globally during Black Friday in 2022 was U$S 268 billion. In the US, online sales grew 9% YoY to $68 billion across Cyber Week.

However, what appears promising also serves as a warning signal. According to a Statista study, e-commerce fraud already represents a global loss of over USD 48 billion in 2023. Furthermore, research indicates that attempts at fraud during Black Friday tend to be 82% higher than during the rest of the year.
